The Green Hospitality Programme offers ISO Type 1 Eco-label & Award certificates to hospitality businesses which prove their commitment to the environment by fulfilling a number of key requirements By the end of 2009 there were c.200 members and c.120 awards issued and the programme is recognised nationally and internationally.
 
The award is granted based on performance in implementing an Environmental Management System, Waste Management, Water Management and Energy Management. 

The Green Hospitality Programme requires continual improvement and a real commitment to the environment. Recent research has shown that more customers are looking for the hospitality sector to demonstrate good environmental performance. Members of the GHP have made annualized savings of between €10,000 to €100,000 by utilising the best practice advice and suppport available through the programme.
