Wednesday 13th February 2013: The Irish Hotels Federation (IHF) today welcomed a range of pro-tourism measures announced by Minister for Finance Michael Noonan as part of the Finance Bill 2013. The Bill includes measures to improve access to equity finance for tourism accommodation, incentives to encourage the construction of new aviation facilities, a rebate on diesel fuel for coach operators and a higher VAT threshold of €1.25m.

Mr Tim Fenn, Chief Executive, IHF said: “The measures outlined today will go a long way toward putting Ireland’s tourism industry on a more stable footing so that it can realise its full potential as an engine for job creation across the country. The measures are a testament to the commitment shown by both Ministers Leo Varadkar and Michael Ring to ensure tourism remains at the heart of Government economic policy and they build on other initiatives such as The Gathering 2013 and the tourism jobs stimulus in 2011.”
