The IHF’s main marketing channels are our annual Hotel & Guesthouse Guide, our accommodation website and our social media presence. All of which are designed to offer our members bookings at very competitive rates.

IHF members get access to the Irelandhotels.com portal website at no upfront cost and an industry low commission rate. Free / Reciprocal Marketing

At the IHF we are always negotiating media deals, where our member hotels can be featured. Here are just some examples of the media that our member hotels appeared in during 2015:

  • Radio Advertising: East Coast FM and LMFM

Whether its in the form of HR Guidance, Financial Advice or Marketing Training we offer members a wide range of practical support, and our team are always available to answer your questions, whether they are big or small.

Our HR expert Nuala McLoughlin is always on hand to answer your HR queries or your can simply refer to the HR section of our Resource Center on our website to gain access to all our HR documents. 

We regularly send out email Advisorys to notifiy our members about significant events in the Tourism industry including details of fraud or theft taking place in other Hotels or Guest houses.

Finally, we offer our members access to a range of training options including our Digital Marketing Diploma, specifically tailored for the hotel industry and available at a fraction of the normal price, and our Health and Safety training courses. 

3. Representation 

The IHF and its senior team including Chief Executive Tim Fenn and President Joe Dolan, are regualarly lobbying and representing the Hotel and Guest House industry at Government and EU level. The IHF team were involved in negotiating a lower VAT rate for the hospitality industry, as well as being actively involved in pay rate negotiations. 

As a member you can raise any issues that you have at your local branch level, by either contacting your Branch Chairperson or attending a Branch Meeting. Your issue will then be brought to the IHF Council which is attended by all the Brand Chairs. More serious issues can be addressed to Tim Fenn or Stephen McNally who will raise them at the IHF Mangement Committee meetings.  

In addition to the above the IHF are represented on various boards and committies relating to the the Tourism Industry these include Fáilte Ireland, Tourism Ireland, Shannon Development and the Small Business Advisory Group.
