Objective:
The objective of this post includes but is not limited to the management of the client and Estates interface, ensuring a high profile in the day-to-day running of the site and providing a strong link to all key stakeholders. This will be achieved by an active and visible role requiring excellent customer relationship and supplier management skills with particular focus on the areas of Catering, Cleaning, Security and Porterage. Due to the nature of the college calendar there will be a requirement to work on occasions 35 hours over a 7 day week. However normal office hours apply 9am – 5pm.
 
Background:
The Estate and Support Services Department is responsible for the building and facilities management of RCSI’s activities on a number of RCSI campus, hospital and non-hospital sites. In addition, the department provides important support services to students, staff and various users of these venues. On the St Stephen’s Green Campus, the Front of House Manager will be a key figure in the daily management of this campus.
 
Specifically, the duties of the post will include but are not limited to:
  • Responsibility for all day to day management, control, co-ordination, execution of all operations and services under your remit and reporting directly to the Head of Estates.
  • Take day to day responsibility for quality, environmental, legislative and health & safety and ensuring compliance with college policies and procedures including the effective management of Cleaning, Security, Catering and Porterage.
  • Client satisfaction and the delivery and monitoring of services provided, deliver a service which exceeds the clients expectations.
  • Identifying and implementing innovations which improve service delivery and quality.
  • Provision of high level advice and problem solving function.
  • Provide management support to Estates Team as required.
  • Conduct regular site audits to ensure that the specified standard of work is maintained and all site logs and documentation are kept up to date and current.
  • Liaise with the college Facility Manager to ensure the facilities are fit for purpose on a daily basis.
  • Conduct regular facility audits, with particular attention to welfare, student and staff facing areas.
  • Ensure the development and potential of all direct reports, to encourage resilience and succession planning within the college and the organization 1
  • Manage and develop appropriate rosters to ensure service delivery is achieved for all events both in and out of hours. In particular but not limited to Catering, Cleaning, Security and Portorage.
  • Ensuring the availability of and if required participation in the provision of a 24 hour per day 365 days per year emergency on call service as required
  • Manage all direct reports and a team to ensure full delivery of college services including Food and Hospitality operations, Security, Cleaning and Porterage
  • Manage and develop all direct reports through a process of Personal Development Plans, build a strong motivated team with resilience and sustainability.
  • Any other reasonable task as directed by the Head of Estates.
Candidates must possess:
  • Third level qualification (HACCP/Culinary Arts/Professional Cookery)
  • Previous experience in Managing an extensive Front of House provision
  • Ability to prioritise and problem solve across a broad range of services and stakeholders
  • Previous experience within a college environment or similar would be advantageous
  • A formal H&S qualification i.e. IOSH certificate or similar would be advantageous
  • Accreditation to a relevant professional body is advantageous
  • Previous experience of managing people is essential to this role
  • Excellent IT skills who is accomplished in MS office suite
  • A pro-active attitude
  • Excellent attention to detail
