IHF WELCOMES TOURISM MINISTERS’ SUPPORT

The Irish Hotels Federation (IHF) welcomes the recognition by Ministers Shane Ross and Brendan Griffin of the crisis facing the tourism, hospitality and leisure sectors in the face of the COVID-19 crisis and the agreement they are seeking from the Government for urgent assistance for businesses. Among the measures being sought are significant reductions to VAT, local rates, water charges and other outgoings such as PRSI.

The Ministers have also called for payment holidays for businesses in relation to the Revenue, Banks and Local Authorities. The IHF, which represents almost 1000 hotels and guesthouses around the country, is calling on the Minister for Finance Paschal Donohue to implement these measures as a matter of urgency.

A copy of the Ministers' joint statement is available HERE.

Irish tourism generates over €9 billion annually and supports in excess of 260,000 jobs, which is one in every 10 jobs. Seventy percent of these jobs are outside Dublin – in every town and county and states every effort must be made to safeguard them.
