The RSA program blends good business sense with an astute guide to legal responsibilities
While the hotel can be responsible for alcohol related incidents on the premises, it is almost impossible to supervise this, and to monitor customers when they are not purchasing alcohol on the premises. The RSA workshop deals with all these important issues offering practical solutions and allows for an open discussion among staff at all levels in a bid to resolve issues which are causing increasing difficulty both from a legal and financial perspective.
Through discussion with participants of the workshops, we have picked up on the latest trends which have negative effects on licence holders and staff.
We explain the various penalties a license holder can face for allowing disorderly conduct and of course, we will help each and every premises develop a set of guidelines in the form of an Alcohol House Policy, which if written well and clearly displayed can be used if a court case occurs.
Staff Confidence
As the workshop progresses, we want to see staff gaining confidence, learning how to see a potential problem before it happens, telling early is a good way of diverting problems.
Recognising the signs of intoxication and knowing when and how to refuse another drink before a customer has the potential to endanger themselves or someone else. The workshop deals with building confidence.
We carry out role play and put participants through their paces, its fun, but it is also vital that staff have confidence in handling difficult situations coming into the busy wedding and holiday season.
Developed in consultation with IHF Members, supported by Failte Ireland, RSA is a three-hour workshop which includes case study discussion and a question and answer session.
