Overall job purpose:
To prepare, cook and present for service as required, foodstuffs and sauces to the standards of the establishment.
Main Duties:
· To prepare various dishes and foodstuffs as required for service in banqueting areas or other food outlets.
· To assist in other kitchen departments as when required.
· To operate in a safe and responsible manner with recognised techniques.
· To ensure a high standard of personal hygiene.
· To operate machines and cooking equipment in a reasonable manner.
· To train any staff in the department where applicable and as required.
· To be prepared to undergo any training deemed necessary by the hotel, which will help in the advancement of knowledge and methods.
· To understand the provisions and maintenance of the kitchen services.
· To ensure full knowledge of cook-chill guidelines.
· To ensure a high standard of service.
· To ensure all plated meals get attention to detail.
· To ensure rotation of stock is maintained.
· To observe all Health and Safety regulations as applicable to employees: Health and Safety at work Acts, HACCP.
· You are responsible for participating in the Optimus Programme with the Talbot Hotel Group. (Please see above Talbot Hotel Stillorgan Service Promise)
· To act in accordance with the hotel fire instructions.
· To ensure that all necessary steps are taken to safeguard company money, goods and assets.
· To observe all house rules and work in a supervisory capacity in the absence of your superior.
· Any other sundry task not mentioned but within the scope of the job.
