Sales & Marketing Manager



To develop, implement and execute the corporate sales activities in agreements with the Hotel’s marketing plans and objectives, yielding the maximum profitability of the Hotel through converted sales.


  • Develop and implement sales activities to maximise hotel exposure and hotel revenue.
  • Service and maintain sales accounts.
  • Devise a business plan and sales budget for each financial year and ensure that it is implemented.
  • When on business outside of the hotel to liaise by phone to hotel team.
  • Attend internal sales meetings and management meetings to discuss operational, financial and day to day management issues and to build a strong management infrastructure.
  • Network at civic and social functions.
  • Sending information to the General Manager for sales proposals and follow through to potential and current clientele.
  • Maintaining, creating and adding to data bases with regard to information collation in relation to Sales & Marketing.
  • To conduct sales calls both on the phone and in person as required.
  • Seek out and target new customers and new sales opportunities, initiate an action plan to approach and secure new business for both The River Court Hotel and The Royal Marine Hotel.
  • Attendance at Sales related shows in order to promote The River Court Hotel and The Royal Marine Hotel.
  • Analyse and evaluate the effectiveness of sales methods, costs and results.
  • To communicate and activate media requests.
  • To be able to conduct sales presentations on the computer to potential clientele if required.
  • Give information to the team to help conduct direct mailing to groups and updating marketing listings.
  • To liaise and attend on a regular basis, or as set out by Management meetings to develop and discuss cross selling techniques for both The River Court Hotel and The Royal Marine Hotel. 
  • Assist with The Royal Marine Hotel in coordinating the development, production and distribution of promotional and collateral materials to support hotel’s marketing and sales programs.
  • To be confidently familiar and capable of selling both Neville Hotel properties.




  • Reporting to the General Manager on all aspects of the job.
  • Decisions regarding negotiated rates must be communicated to the General Manager in advance.
  • Decisions with regard to budget spending on Marketing or Advertising must be approved through the General Manager.
  • Special Clientele (V.I.P) status should be decided alongside the General Manager.


  • To set and achieve competitive targets within Sales.
  • To promote the River Court Hotel and The Royal Marine Hotel within targeted markets to ensure we are known and promoted favourably within the 4* market.



Primarily within your office in Kilkenny and out on the road to attend sales calls and trips.

The Sales Office if and when required.


DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE                                               


  • Own car and full driving license.
  • Sales or Hotel Management related qualification to at least a diploma level.
  • Previous Hotel/Hospitality Industry sales Experience, to at least a sales manager level, with a history of dealing with sales and marketing activities within this industry.
  • Excellent sales techniques, ability to close a sale.
  • Excellent telephone manner.
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal and written.
  • Ability to conduct sales presentations.
  • To be familiar and knowledgeable about Kilkenny River Court Hotel’s potential market.
  • Professional appearance and conduct at all times whilst on the property and when representing Kilkenny River Court Hotel.
  • Good timekeeping and work ethic.
