The minimum salary threshold for general employment permits has increased from €30,000 to €34,000 based on a 39 hour week. The Labour Market Needs Test is still required for general employment permit applications and must reflect the revised thresholds.
The minimum salary requirement will steadily rise to €39,000 until January 2026. However, the salary threshold of €64,000 for a critical skills employment permit will remain at €64,000.
All renewal applications must reflect the new increased salary threshold.
Employers may need to review and reforecast budgets for employment costs to ensure any employment permit holders they employ can continue to work in Ireland.
