Sam Russell, Director | Advisory & Transactions

Sam is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and has particular experience in the Hotel sector having acted as asset manager for a €50m revenue European hotel portfolio for a number of years, and has advised a wide variety of independent and branded hotel businesses since then on key commercial and financial issues. Sam has also held FC roles in the manufacturing, retail and hospitality industries. As a result, Sam has extensive commercial experience and is well versed in managing both banking and legal issues.

James Loughrey, Partner | Audit

James has over 10 years professional services experience, working with a range of clients in the hotel sector. He is known for his strong relationships with clients and solution-based approach. James works closely with Seán, Sam & their teams on a range of projects for our hotel clients, including banking, funding & advisory. James is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Seán McSweeney, Partner | Tax Advisory

Sean McSweeney co-founded MC2 Accountants in 2013 and is an Associate of the Irish Tax Institute and Chartered Accountants Ireland. Sean is a specialist in tax consultancy and business advisory services and has an in-depth knowledge of tax and legal structures. He has advised numerous hotel businesses across Ireland and leads the firm’s EIIS funding projects.

Ruth Houlihan, Director | Corporate Finance

Ruth’s role is focused on providing advice to SME and Corporate clients, including several businesses in the hotel sector. Ruth has assisted hotels across Ireland with corporate debt restructuring, capital and debt fundraising along with business valuations and modelling. Ruth also has experience in the areas of financial, credit and risk analysis. Prior to MC2 Ruth held the role of Business Manager, Business Banking Cork City with Bank of Ireland.

Sean Gaine, Audit Team

Sean is a Senior Auditor in our Accounting and Audit department and is a qualified Certified Public Accountant. Sean uses his knowledge of the hospitality industry to work closely with our hotel clients. As auditor he makes an independent assessment of client’s accounting systems, controls, and procedures. Sean will provide recommendations for improvements and advise on the strengths and weaknesses of their accounting systems.
