Business Development Manager Required @ the 4* Courtyard Hotel, Leixlip, Co. Kildare.

The Courtyard Hotel is part of the Moriarty Group which is an Irish owned company involved in both the retail grocery and hospitality industries.  The company currently comprises of 2 four star hotels, The Bracken Court Hotel in Balbriggan and the Court Yard Hotel, in Leixlip, Co. Kildare and also 3 Super Valu Store, situated in Balbriggan,
Skerries and Palmerstown, Dublin 20.  The company currently employees in excess of 550 people across the group.

The Courtyard Hotel is situated in the pretty village of Leixlip, Co. Kildare and has been in operation since 2005.  the property currently comprises of 40 bedrooms, (including 8 luxury suites), conference suites,  the Riverbank Restaurant, and 4 state of the art bars including a live music venue.

We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Business Development Manager to manage and develop the entire sales function within the hotel and work in conjunction with our professional management team.

 The Role:

This is a new position to the hotel and is a full-time role working an average of 45 hours per week, 5 days over 7.   This will predominantly be a role where the days worked will fall between Monday and Friday, however, from time to time business levels/events in the hotel may require the Business Development Manager to work at weekends.

 Main Duties:

  • Management & development of the current sale team.
  • Management & development of the company’s relationship with our current customer/client base.
  • Develop an effective sales plan/strategy in conjunction with the senior team in-house.
  • Develop budgets and targets in conjunction with General Manger and finance team.
  • Manage and develop our current database of existing and potential business opportunities.
  • Identify future business opportunities for the hotel and devise action plan to address same.
  • On the road sales including sales presentations.
  • Cold calling.
  • Develop weekly sales results reports.
  • Development of advertising material in-house and liaising with external advertising company’s.
  • Development of promotional offers – fully managing the process from advertising stage to follow through.
  • Establish yourself as an ambassador for the property.
  • Maintain a strong presence at sales fairs and within the industry in general.
  • Working in conjunction with all departments within the hotel.


  • Extensive knowledge of the hotel industry
  • Strong proven track record within the hotel industry in a sales role - preferably 3/4 years previous experience.
  • Strong sales skills – especially on the road/field sales.
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to develop/design advertising material i.e. posters and flyers, brochures
  • Strong communications and leadership skills
  • Excellent people skills
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage own work schedule/agenda
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Good portfolio of connections within the industry
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Good computer skills
  • Must be fluent in the English language both written and spoken
  • Must be available to work outside of normal office hours.
  • Good at developing new ideas.
  • Must have a full clean drivers licence and be a car owner.


Required Qualifications: 
-Must have 3/4 years experience in a similar role within the hotel industry. -Must have a proven rack record in business development. -Must have a full drivers licence. -Must have experience in preparing advertising material.

-Must have the ability to manage staff. -Must be a strong sales person with the ability to deliver sales presentations. -Must be good at developing new ideas and thinking outside of the box. -Must be fluent in the English language both spoke and written
