This Christmas, TV presenter and former Olympian Greg O’Shea has partnered with Coca-Cola HBC and The Coca-Cola Company to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Designated Driver campaign. The initiative rewards drivers who ensure their friends and family get home safely during the festive season. Over 350 venues across Ireland will participate, offering designated drivers two free soft drinks from the Coca-Cola range.
Greg O’Shea emphasized the importance of the campaign, saying, “I’m so proud to be partnering with Coca-Cola this Christmas to celebrate the ultimate zero heroes, our Designated Drivers!”
Paula Hilman, Assistant Commissioner at An Garda Síochána, highlighted the campaign’s significance: “It is essential that we prioritize safety on our roads. An Garda Síochána do not want to spoil anyone’s festive fun but neither do we ever want to be on a family’s doorstep to deliver the horrific news that their loved one has been killed or seriously injured in a road traffic collision.”
Davide Franzetti, General Manager of Coca-Cola HBC , expressed his gratitude: “I am delighted to be celebrating 20 years of our Designated Driver campaign. This is a significant milestone that has only been made possible by our incredible hospitality industry.”
The campaign is supported by the Department of Transport, the Road Safety Authority (RSA), An Garda Síochána and Drinkaware. It is also backed by the Irish Hotels Federation and other industry bodies.
