At Hotel Minella, a family-run hotel on the banks of the River Suir in Clonmel, The Catering Innovation Agency Team (CIA Ireland) has helped drive operational improvements across two critical back-of-house areas — the kitchen and the laundry.
The project began some years back with the installation of a top-of-the-range Palux cooking suite, built to deliver consistent performance and reliability across a busy hotel kitchen serving both leisure guests and business travelers. More recently, the CIA team returned to upgrade the hotel's laundry facilities — a less visible but equally important piece of the operational puzzle for any hotel managing high linen turnover.
Why Laundry matters for hotels: kitchen and laundry operations are often assessed separately, but they share the same underlying goals — reliability, energy efficiency, and reduced downtime. Tackling both as part of a phased investment means less disruption to day-to-day operations and a more joined-up approach to reducing running costs across the property.
Hotel Minella's continued investment in its facilities, while maintaining the charm and character that keeps guests coming back, is a good example of how legacy properties can modernise incrementally without losing what makes them distinctive.

The CIA are 18 years supplying and installing commercial kitchen and laundry equipment for hotels across Ireland — from family-run destinations like Hotel Minella to five-star Hotels. Check out www.ciaireland.ie/projects
