For-Sight, the Hotel CRM & Marketing Platform built exclusively for the hospitality industry, has today launched a free OTA Cost Calculator - a straightforward online tool that allows hoteliers to input their room count, occupancy, average daily rate, and current OTA commission rate to immediately see the financial impact of their OTA reliance, and the potential value of shifting even a small percentage of bookings to direct.

For many hotels, OTA commissions represent one of the largest controllable costs in the business, in fact, OTAs take an average of 15-25% of hotel room revenue. Yet the exact figure is rarely front of mind - the calculator changes that.

In under two minutes, hoteliers receive a clear, personalised breakdown of their estimated annual, monthly or weekly OTA spend and the revenue opportunity available if they were to reduce that dependency. It is designed to be a starting point for a bigger conversation: not just about cost savings, but about owning the guest relationship.

The tool is available free of charge and requires no login or data submission to use. Hoteliers simply enter a handful of operational figures and the calculator returns an estimated annual OTA commission cost alongside a projected saving based on a target reduction in OTA dependency. For-Sight's own customer data points to what is achievable: hotels using the platform have seen on average a 19% reduction in OTA dependency, and one customer, Bridgewood Manor, recorded a 52% increase in direct bookings.

Every pound saved from OTA commissions is a pound that can be reinvested in knowing guests better, communicating with them more effectively, and earning their return visit.
